On August 11, 1995, the Taiwanese government promulgated the “Prevention Act Against Commercial Sex Trade of Children and Youth” in order to prevent children and youth from being the targets of commercial sex trades and exploitation. Entrusted by our government in July 1996, TFCF started to set up emergent short-term placement centers in Miaoli, Taichung, Hualien and Taitung Branch Offices to provide shelters and counseling services to teenage girls who had performed or are prone to have commercial sex trades. In 2007, we served 119 girls in total.
